Most Americans were celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday, November the 28th, and some were celebrating the first day of Hanukkah. But I suspect that very few people took the time to think about that one country in East Europe. The country that has had to put up with so much over the past century during the Axis Powers occupation from 1942 to 1944, and the subsequent Soviet Union occupation from 1944 to 1992.
So, even though the holiday is over, I would like to personally congratulate the Republic of Albania for celebrating its 100th year of Independence.
Happy birthday Albania!
